SSN (Social-Security-Number)

The Social Security Number (SSN) is a nine-digit number issued by the Social Security Administration to identify an individual for tax and other purposes. It is used to track individual identity and earnings records, making it an important identifier for government and employer transactions.

This number is unique to each individual, so it can easily be used to verify someone’s identity. It is used for filing taxes, applying for loans and benefits, establishing credit, and for other financial transactions. It is also used by employers to identify and manage employee records.

The SSN is a combination of multiple elements. Depending on the country the SSN can include different elements. To obtain an SSN, individuals must complete an application form. This form requires them to provide information such as their name, date and place of birth, their parents’ names and SSNs, and their immigration status if applicable.

Once submitted and approved, the individual will receive a unique number which will serve as their primary identifier for all future transactions. A social security number if necessary in many countries and oftentimes used to verify the identity. Regarding crypto, it is often needed to open an account at a crypto exchange.
